USA holidays and festivals
In order to be familiar with the culture of one’s country one of the ways is that to participate in the celebration made on their festivals and holidays. Following are United States holidays that people of America is celebrating in all over the country:
1st January: New Year Day, It is the subsequent Christian holiday coming subsequently after 31st December. It is all about welcoming of New Year by organizing parties that starts from the night of on 31st December of the previous year.
3rd Monday of January: Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Memorize and celebrating the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. He was the leader of African-American civil rights who has won the Noble Peace Prize in 1964.
14th February: Valentine’s Day. It is the day of love and romance to celebrate by exchanging cards, flowers, candies, gifts etc as a token of love.
3rd Monday of February: President’s Day. This is the day giving honor to past America’s Presidents like George Washington (first president of America) and Abraham Lincoln (hero of Civil War) who help to abolish slavery in America.
17th March: Saint Patrick’s Day, celebrating the patron saint of Ireland with parties and parades decorated with Irish green.
1st April: April Fool Day. It is the day of playing clever but not harmful tricks or telling jokes to other having a good sense of humor. This day is celebrated as April fool’s day.
Last Monday of May: It is the known as a Memorable Day celebrated by remembering those men and women who died during serving in the USA Armed Forces.
4th July: America’s Independence Day. It is the US holiday where American displays shows of fireworks are organized as Americans mark date when 13 states of USA declared independent from England in 1776. It is also a Government holiday.
1st Monday of September: World Labor Day, this day is celebrated in the honor of contribution and efforts of workers in the entire country.
2nd Monday of October: This day is celebrated as Columbus Day. By paying tribute to Christopher Columbus, he is traditionally thought of discovered America in 1492.
Last Thursday of November: This day is celebrated as Thanks giving Day. Feast on a traditional meal with dinner shared with Pilgrimages and Native Americans.
25th December: This day termed known Christmas Day. On this day, Jesus Christ, the God of Americans and the leader of Christian faith has taken birth on Earth. This is the religious holiday celebrated by exchanging gifts with friends and family members.
