American Culture

You are going to venture on totally new experiences. The word ‘new’ means recently discovered, recognized, learned about etc. completely from the present one. You should make sure that things are completely different in USA from their native country. So be prepared for adapting the change in life.

New challenges always give company to new experiences. Sometimes you will feel confused, uncomfortable and unsure in USA. People will have different ways and thinking pattern of doing things which seems somewhat strange to you. You feel changed and away from your friends and relatives in the beginning.

As everyone knows, independence is the popular American culture rather we can say is the trademark of American culture. There are some advices to the non-American Students. It is you only who have to make initiative, for making friends in USA. The reason being the American value of independence, America will not always look for you to make their friends. It is up to you only to make an introduction with the people. The people assume that you are concerned of yourself if not you ask for the help. And if you do not ask for any help, they would assume that you do not require anybody. Hence, it is very important to ask for help whenever you need.

In many countries there is a culture to politely refuse for 2-3 times if any one offers something to you. In case of USA, it is advisable to answer in polite way by saying “yes please” if you liked the thing that has been offered. There are many interesting and humorous situations faced by non-American student A Student who was thirsty or hungry has refused for food and drink offered to them thinking that it as a polite manner. But there was no chance left to say “yes” when it was offered for second or third time.

On the contrary from the independent and individuality US culture, many Americans are conventional and earn their identity only by belonging to some groups. It has been noticed that some students have joined some groups for getting acquainted with others and for satisfying their need to belong. You will get definitely surprised by seeing many people having similar American clothing and hairstyles pattern to look similar which resembles their group.

Keep your mind open to know Americans as an individual, as sometimes it seems difficult to figure them out.
