Eligibility for GRE
The graduate students wishing to study in foreign countries should take GRE Subject Tests or GRE General Test or both. General Record Examination or GRE Tests can be taken at any stage but it is advisable to take it during the completion year of your college studies. GRE Scores are valid for a period of five years, but candidates are advised to produce fresh test score not older than two years with admission council of university or institution.
GRE Score supplement the academic records of under graduate education, extracurricular activities and all other qualifications to get admission into graduate studies. The GRE Scores are required to indicate whether the graduate applicant would be able to complete higher studies in particular course or not. The GRE Scores of the student are generally used by the admission authorities, scholarship/fellowship committees to award financial assistance.
GRE General Test Fees and Payment Mode
GRE fees are USD $160 in US, US Territories and Puerto Rico while it is USD $205 for China, Hong kong, Korea and Taiwan and for all other locations it is USD $190. There are few special handling charges taken from the candidate: these charges are USD $25 for late registration fees (paper-based test online registration only); USD $50 for Stand-by testing (paper based test only); USD $50 for Rescheduling Fees; USD $50 for changing your test center.
The most acceptable form of payments for computer adaptive test is:

- Money Order/Certified Check/Voucher

Fees for GRE should be given in full with correct figures and amount with an appropriate signature made payable to ETS-GRE. Payment made by check should be payable in US dollars and drawn from the US based banks.
Check Date should not be more than 90 days old. Post dated checks are not allowed. The name and the location of the bank should be mentioned on the face of the check. The appointment date should be minimum 10 days after the check is received allowing your check to get clear. Don’t forget that it takes at-least 8 weeks to reach letters to USA from some of the countries.
