Advice on Taking GMAT Test:

Here, we see various advices on taking GMAT (Graduation Management Admission Test) which is the most essential test to get admission in any business school in USA:

a) Guessing
Guessing any one answer of the question is normally a wrong practice. Instead of just guessing, try to eliminate the wrong choices from the set answers. By doing this, it improves the chances of the odds. It is natural that in most of the questions, at-least one answer will be wrong. First eliminate it and then guess if you need to.

b) Looking for easy answer choices
Test-writers make you persuade with reasonable but wrong answers. So use pencil or scratch paper to check your calculations to avoid the mistakes in problem solving questions. Make a general size of numerical values which will be answers for the questions. Questions in verbal sections includes the best and the second best response. So don’t be in hurry to answer the questions till you have read all the options properly and carefully. By giving the GMAT test properly and carefully, one can attain high GMAT scores in the test. But it can be done only if adequate GMAT test preparation is done in time.

c) Pace Yourself
Make sure that you should have adequate time for each and every question. Always check your pace after completion of every 10 questions. Be cautious at each section to where you are in the test and check how many questions are still left to answer. Keep in mind that you have only 75 minutes to answer 31 quantitative questions and 75 minutes to answer 41 verbal questions which gives 2 minutes for each quantitative section questions and 1 ¾ minute for each verbal section questions. Also keep in mind that you cannot skip or avoid any of the questions or a chance to change your answer for any question once you move forward. For Analytical Writing, you will have only 30 minutes to each essay.

d) Start Slowly
The level of difficult question will be given based on your correct reply of your answers to the previous questions. If you answer wrong to the previous questions, the testing system will automatically lower down the scale of difficulty. It is obvious that reward for answering correct reply easier questions will be lower than reward for difficult questions. So avoid carelessness and start slowly as it will disadvantage you on the test.

e) Do not aim to be perfect
Do not try to be over smart and try to become a perfectionist. The result for a correct answer for a difficult question is more than that of the easy answer. But in aiming to become perfect will decreases the total number of questions that you have attempt and also lower your overall score.

f) “Attack” every question
Don’t become relaxed. Maintain your concentration level throughout the test. Think twice or thrice for your answers of each questions in order to score well in the test.

g) Use Paper for Calculations
Do simple calculation within your mind. To avoid errors and mistakes, do it on a rough paper for the quantitative section. Under the pressure of short time, it is easy to make mistakes in careless mental errors in manipulating numbers, equations.
